Dear Beta Tau Brothers:
Please mark your calendar for the 31st Annual Beta Tau Alumni Oyster Roast and golf tournament, coming April 30, 2011. This is the time we gather as a brotherhood to enjoy fun, food, golf and fellowship. All activities will be taking place at River Ridge Golf Club in Raleigh. This has been the location for many Oyster Roasts in the past. The golf course has a wonderful layout and is a must play for any level of golfer. Please make a special effort to contact your pledge brothers and encourage them to attend and share a great time with brothers whom they may not have seen in quite some time. We’ve had greater and greater attendance in the recent years and believe that this year could be the largest Oyster Roast yet, so get your registrations in as soon as you can.
Tee times for the golf tournament will begin at 9:30 a.m. at River Ridge Golf Club in Raleigh. Submit your handicap to Rick Tate and he will pair you up with a foursome. You may also make your own foursome and submit it to Rick. Remember, there are only 75 spaces in the golf tournament, and spaces will be filled as paid registrations are received, so register early. Oysters from the 42nd Street Oyster Bar will be served around 4:00 p.m. and a full buffet from McCall’s BBQ will be served around 5:30 p.m.
Also, don’t forget about the traditional Friday night gathering. This year’s gathering will take place on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the Crabtree Tavern in Raleigh.
This year the Oyster Roast Committee has decided to add a new twist to the golf tournament. We have invited some former NCSU athletes and local celebrities to help our fundraising efforts. This year, Tom Gugliotta (Basketball), Chris Corchiani (Basketball), Tommy Kane (Basketball), Johnny Evans (Football) and possible others will be available for auction to be a 5th man in the captain’s choice golf tournament. The auction begins now and will conclude at the Friday night dinner at Crabtree Tavern. All proceeds raised from the celebrities will be donated to the new Beta Tau house and checks can be made to the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation. We hope you will all join us in welcoming our celebrities this year and we hope to see you all at the dinner.
A special group will be joining us on Friday night as well, the 15 seniors from the current Beta Tau Chapter. These seniors have done such a terrific job in spearheading the rebirth of our Chapter this past year. It is most impressive to see the amount of hard work and dedication this group has put forth to get the Chapter started on a solid foundation. These seniors deserve our thanks and Friday night will be a great time to let them know how much we appreciate their efforts. If you would like to sponsor a senior, add an extra $25.00 to your check. The brothers will also be selling 2011 Oyster Roast tee shirts for $20.00. If you would like one please indicate on your registration your size.
