Service Beyond the Initiative
In addition to the organizations Sigma Nu has partnered with nationally, the Beta Tau Chapter at NC State University has committed itself to extending a hand to several other organizations. We, the men of the Beta Tau Chapter, are committed to service and helping out our community. Some of the organizations we have partnered with in the past are listed below:
Stop Hunger Now:
Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief organization that coordinates the distribution of food and other life-saving aid around the world. The organization is driven by a vision to end world hunger in our lifetime and a mission to provide food and life-saving aid to the world’s most destitute and hungry in the most sustainable, efficient and effective manner.
The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina:
Established in 1980, the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina a nonprofit organization that has provided food for people at risk of hunger in 34 counties in central and eastern North Carolina for 30 years. The Food Bank serves a network of more than 800 partner agencies such as soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and programs for children and adults through warehouses in Durham, Greenville, New Bern, Raleigh, the Sandhills (Southern Pines) and Wilmington.
The St. Baldrick's Foundation:
The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. Volunteers, sponsored by family, friends and employers, go bald in solidarity with kids who typically lose their hair during cancer treatment.
The Lance Armstrong Foundation:
The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) is a non-profit organization that provides support for people affected by cancer, founded in 1997 by cancer survivor and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong. The LAF states that its mission is 'to inspire and empower' cancer sufferers and their families. The LAF also aims to provide practical information and tools for cancer sufferers in a, public health and research.
